Easy Money
Monday September 24, 2007
As my best friend was in town yesterday, I found myself in the position of needing gas desperately and needing some cash for our activity out. The day before, they bought dinner (which was nice), but I simply couldn't ask them to pay my admission and certainly not gas money. They did most of the driving in their rent car, but I needed gas money just to get there and back.
So I wrote a check for over again - the amount was $31.76. The $6 was for cat food, which I'm running low on.
Now, had I been at home with no company this weekend, I would've made it by just staying home, entertaining myself and conserving gas. But I only see her once a year or so. Don't feel like I had much of a choice here.
This puts me in a pickle of needing to find $53.25 by tomorrow to keep from bouncing checks. Not sure how I'm going to do this.

Since I had to pay for that eye doctor appointment, I'm fairly low on funds. I have exactly $1.07 in my checking account, but I'm glad I had it. Because of the doctor appointment and that burger I bought, I let it slip by me that now I was $7 short in my account (again). Faced with no cash, no money and no place to get any, yesterday I wrote a check at the store for $36.59 and deposited $10 of it. The money I spent was on coffee and non-dairy coffee creamer, which I was nearly out of. There was $25 written over the amount.
Good thing I had, or I would've awakened to a bounced check. I had written a check to my company as a reimbursement for something weeks ago, and it just hit my account. I had a feeling it would.
That will give me $15 to spend this weekend - my best friend is in town. If I don't spend it, I'll deposit it on Monday. I'll still have to find more funds somehow someway by Tuesday. Not sure how to do that.
If I can just hold on for another 3 weeks or so, I'll be sitting pretty. This next pay period will be tight again, but the one after that will start to be reasonable again. I will NOT go crazy spending money, but it will be nice to just have some in my account.
The other good news is that I had my review this week and it was nearly perfect! I was rather stunned. I do a good job and I know it, but my boss can be rather mercurial. Some days I'm brilliant, the other days I'm a toad. I figured I was going to have to fight for the whole possible 5% raise, but I didn't. This will be nice because I'll be able to start making roughly $100 more a payperiod or $200 more a month (if my calculations are right). That, minus the crappy loan, will make my life MUCH easier.
Then I can set about repairing everything ELSE.

I spent $50 on an eye doctor appointment because I had an eye infection that wasn't going away.
Wouldn't you know, it's going away NOW.
I also spent $3.04 for a newspaper and a diet coke on the way.

The online company was out of supplements, so I had to cancel that order and go buy some in the store - that was 38.07. Also spent 5.97 on lunch, which unfortunately was a burger and it wasn't GF.
I didn't spend any of my own money all weekend.

But took the stuff back - that gave me 24 in my account.
At least I'm not short.
